Darth Maul is a Sith lord affiliated with the Shadow Collective. He was the apprentice of Darth Sidious and became a master at wielding a double-bladed lightsaber. He first appeared in the film Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menance in 1999 where his character faced the two Jedi masters Qui-Gon Jin and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maul fatally stabs Jin in the stomach and is left to face just Kenobi. During the battle Obi-Wan loses his saber and is left clinging on the edge of a pit. He uses the force to summon Jin's lightsaber and slice Darth Maul in half in one motion as he launches himself out of the pit. Actor Ray Park portrayed the character.
