Star-Lord a.k.a Peter Quill is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy along with fellow team members: Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer and Gamora. He was created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan having first appeared in the magazine Marvel Preview #4 in January 1976. His father J'son is the King of the Spartax planetary system, when his shipped crashed on Earth he falls in love with Meredith Quill, Peter's mother. The actor Chris Pratt portrays the character on the big screen in the box office hits: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). The Mighty Mugg above portrays him in his iconic look seen in the films.

Rocket Raccoon was created by Bill Mantlo and Keith Giffen, first appearing in Marvel Preview #7 (1976). He was enhanced by genetic experiments to become a sentient being and technically proficient. He would eventually team up with Star-Lord to stop the villain Phalanx. This union was a springboard to the two of them forming the Guardians of the Galaxy with teammates Groot, Drax the Destroyer and Gamora.

Groot is an extraterrestrial, tree-like creature that was created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Larry Lieber, and Dick Ayers that first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 in November 1960. After many years of assorted appearances in funny books, Groot was reintroduced in 2008 as a heroic member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In recent years actor Vin Diesel has portrayed the voice acting for the character on the big screens in the films: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).
